Legacies to Support Norwich Medieval Churches

The NHCT does not receive grants from the council and we depend on legacies and donations for the work we do.

The NHCT is a registered charity, founded in 1973 to preserve, maintain and manage the churches in the care permanently for the benefit of the people of Norwich, visitors to the city and for anyone interested in the buildings.

Why leave a legacy to the Norwich Historic Churches Trust

To protect the 18 medieval redundant churches in our care. None of them can be sold or mortgaged and are in our care on 99 year leases
To preserve the exterior fabric of the churches.
To preserve and protect interiors – including many commandment boards, C19th furnishings etc

If you would like to leave a legacy to the Trust in your will, this can be done in one of two ways:

When drawing up your will, you can ask your lawyer to insert a clause in the form set out below.
Alternatively, if you already have a will, you can make a codicil to it. This is a simple document whereby you make an amendment to your will including the clause set out below.

I leave the sum of .................................... (Pounds Sterling £.........................) to The Norwich Historic Churches Trust, of PO Box 3408, Norwich NR3 3WE, UK. Provided always that if at the date of my death the Trust has changed its name or changed name or to the new organisation it has become a part of (or the successor thereof) as appropriate and my trustees may accept the receipt of the Secretary/Treasurer as a valid receipt.

The Norwich Historic Churches Trusts recommends that you contact a solicitor if you are in any doubt regarding the wording of this document.
