Thalia Theatre Company is an independent educational ‘arts’ related learning provider for disabled people in particular but not exclusively. Thalia was established in 2004, is a Registered Charity and has Social Enterprise Status. The Artistic Remit of the Company is ‘Theatre for Empowerment and Social Change’.
Thalia is an Accredited Norfolk County Council Day Service provider.
At Thalia we believe the ‘arts’ are a stimulating and creative way of developing essential skills and learning. Through ‘arts’ based learning we aim to challenge negative perceptions of disability, enhance personal, social and communication skills, improve mental and physical health, develop team work and leadership skills. Our day learning opportunities for those aged 18 and over are structured and disciplined to simulate a workplace environment. We also work with children and young people and have a Community Outreach Programme where we share our skills and learning with non disabled people.
Our overall aim is to encourage independence and enable people to reach their full potential and live a rich live as active members of the community.
Our Vision:
Thalia Theatre to be recognised Nationally as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ for arts related learning and educational provision for disabled people in particular but not exclusively.
Our Values:
A fully inclusive society where everyone’s talents and skills are recognised, valued and celebrated!
Our Purpose:
To provide innovative and inspirational ‘arts’ related learning opportunities facilitated and delivered by highly qualified professional ‘arts’ practitioners opening doors to independence, employment pathways and a rich full life
