The church of St Helens is nomally open daily (however please check before visiting)
It is situated within the grounds and is part of the Great Hospital. This is not a hospital but sheltered accommodation for elderly Norwich people.
On selected days during the year the Great Hospital and its grounds are opened to the public. Any visit should include a visit to the elegant Queen Anne style St Helens House once the home of the the renowned English architect Sir Thomas Ivory.
However for most visitors the real surprise and lasting memory is a visit to the Eagle Ward which combines the social history of today with that going back to the origins of the first Great Hospital building.
